The hypnosis theory and hypnotherapy techniques described in this article, written for the professional counseling psychology community, are seen as an effective means to incorporate hypnosis into a mostly cognitive-behavioral treatment strategy. Though it specifically discusses the technique of designing a hypnosis experience derived from material arising out of Rational-Emotive Therapy (now called REBT) discussions, and in what manner the psychological material may be transformed into rational hypnotherapy suggestions and hypnotic induction, the basic hypnosis technique lends itself to use with any material discovered in other modes of counseling psychology, as well. It is intended to show how easily the principles of hypnosis and hypnotherapy are applied to any interview-style modes of clinical psychology and counseling.
